Dentist

Before starting to train our horses under the saddle we asked Vignir to check their teeth. Ögn and Bragur had just little edges that had to be taken care off but Vordís had damaged her teeth by taking the bit and chewing on it. So the first molars on both sides in the lower jaw had grown quite a lot and those in the upper jaw were partly reduced down to the flesh.
Vignir gave Vordís a medication to relax and then he started to rasp the teeth with his equipment. Well, the smell was not specially good, but it was necessary to take these edges off to ensure that the upper teeth can regrow properly. Ingólfur held and supported Vordís' head during the process, I think it was quite a burden...
Unfortunately I forgot to bring my camera so there are no pics of the dentist's visit...
Vordís was still a bit "sleepy" when I led her into her box but the moment the hay came, she was awake enough to eat...
